Pneumatic fittings ,Pneumatic fitting ,Hydraulic fittings How to Add ...

A light beneath a cabinet will illuminate an area in the kitchen that otherwise lies in shadows. To add under-cabinet lighting, you'll need to acquire some supplies from a hardware store. You'll also need some standard household tools. A basic understanding of how electricity works is also required, but you won't have to do any rewiring of your kitchen's electrical system.

1

Determine which cabinet you will be placing the under-cabinet lighting on. Open the cabinet and remove the contents. Drill a hole through the bottom of the cabinet, using a power drill and a 1/2-inch wood drill bit.

2

Locate the electrical outlet that is typically installed at one end of the kitchen countertop, either on the wall beneath or to the side of the cabinets. Drill a hole through the bottom of the cabinet closest to the outlet. Drill a hole through the inside cabinet wall and any subsequent cabinet walls so you can run a wire through and over to the cabinet that will have the light mounted to its underside.

3

Measure the distance from the underside of the cabinet and the electrical outlet, using a tape measure. Add 10 inches to this measurement, just to be safe.

4

Cut a piece of household electric wire from the spool to the measurement you took in Step 3 LED Cabinet/Kitchen light , using wire cutters. Split the insulation between the two wires at each end of the household electric wire with the blade of the utility knife. Measure 4 inches from one end of the wire, and split the insulation in the same way.

5

Separate the wires from each other where the insulation has been split.

6

Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from both of the wires at each end of the household electric wire, using wire strippers. Cut through one of the wires where they are separated 4 inches from one of the ends of the household electric wire, using wire cutters. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from each of the cut ends of the wire, using the wire strippers.

7

Loosen the two screws on the click-wheel switch, using a Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Wind each of the cut wires around one of the screws. Tighten the screws. Place the switch against the other, uncut wire. Tape the switch to the wire with strips of electrical tape at both sides.

8

Remove the screw on the bottom of the electric plug, using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the bottom off the plug. Run the end of the household electric wire that has the switch nearby through the hole in the bottom. Loosen the two screws on the inside back of the plug, using the Phillips screwdriver. Wind a wire around each of the screws. Tighten the screws. Place the bottom back on the plug and reattach the screw.

9

Run the other end of the household electric wire through the hole in the bottom of the cabinet nearest the outlet and through the sides of the cabinets until you come to the cabinet that will have the light mounted to its underside.

10

Pull the end of the household electric wire out through the hole in the underside of the cabinet. Loosen the two screws on the bottom of the light fixture, using the Phillips screwdriver. LED light bar Wind a wire around each of the screws. Tighten the screws.

11

Push the household electric wire back up into the hole. Place the bottom of the light fixture against the underside of the cabinet, over the hole. Screw wood screws through the predrilled holes in the sides of the fixture and into the underside of the cabinet, using the Phillips screwdriver.

12

Screw a light bulb into the socket on the fixture. Insert the plug into the outlet. Click the click-wheel switch to turn on the light mounted on the underside of the cabinet.
